Meet Lucas, an incredibly loyal and intelligent boy who is eager to find his forever home.
Lucas is very well mannered at home – he is house trained, knows to stay off furniture and waits to be called to follow his human.
Lucas loves hiking and long walks, running and playing in the backyard with his green tennis balls, and would love to share his life with a beloved, active human.

Lucas and his wagging tail and friendly demeanor welcome new people with open paws.
There is no aggression toward other dogs, only a sense of fear that seems to underlie his reactions (cowering and barking), likely due to his living situation with another dominant dog who often bullies him. Consequently, his foster keeps them separated as a precaution.
Nevertheless, with the right training and understanding, Lucas’s reactivity can undoubtedly be addressed and resolved.
Interestingly, we discovered a simple way to help him feel secure and calm around other dogs. Simply sitting down and hugging Lucas while a dog passed by seemed to alleviate his reactive behavior. Although it may sound peculiar, this gesture of reassurance provides him with a sense of safety during walks or new dog introductions and he does not try to cower or bark. He wags his tail and though a bit nervous, he seems to establish a bond with dogs.

Lucas’s loyalty and attachment to his owner will be undeniable, yet even with strangers Lucas demonstrates exceptional behavior while in their care.
